Letter: Tiffiny Mitchel has to go

She has aligned herself with Portland Politics, not with the people in her District! Now that she is in her position she has forgotten that she represents Us! Let’s remind her!
Tiffiny is the State Representative for District 32 which spans from Clatsop County to parts of Tillamook and Washington County.
Here are some of what she has supported but we don’t:
*Tiffiny voted to keep $108 million dollars of your Kicker Tax money when she voted YES on HB 2975.
*Tiffiny voted to silence us to secure the $2.8 Billion tax (HB3427) on businesses by supporting HB212 and SB2164, making it legally impossible for us to have a vote.
*Tiffiny voted YES on House Bill 2020, the Cap & Trade Carbon Tax.
Cap and Trade =
A system for controlling emissions. A limit is set on the amount of emissions a business can produce BUT additional emissions capacity can be bought, sold and traded from other businesses that have not used their full allowance.
1. Oregonians emit less than one-twentieth of one percent (.14%) of carbon. A cap on what we produce would make less than a twentieth of one percent impact on the world’s carbon footprint.
2. The cost of energy will dramatically increase – everyone is effected. Each household would be paying energy increases estimated between $1000-$1500 per year.
3.Cap and Trade creates an artificial market to buy, sell and trade allowances as a commodity. BAD BAD BAD!! Who knows how much this will cost! How much is an allowance worth if a company needs it to continue to operate? The average person will have to foot the bill as the costs trickle down to us.
4.Cap and Trade has not worked in Europe. In the E.U. carbon emissions are on the rise despite their Cap and Trade laws. Industries effected by Cap and Trade understand they are working within a legal framework when they output carbon, the public pressure for them to cut down is weakened. Evidence of this can be seen in Europe where most countries have seen carbon emissions increase, even though the European Union has had Cap and Trade laws in place since 2005.
*12 Week PAID Medical Leave – paid for by the employer, leave notice can be given just 24 hrs before leave is taken, allows the employee to take this 3 month leave every 12 months and requires them getting their same or an equivalent job back when they return. The cost of this will bring many businesses to their demise. Investing in automation wherever possible will become a necessity to survive!
*A lot of Seniors are on a fixed income and struggling to keep up with rising property taxes. HJR 25 would have let voters vote on a Senior Property Tax Freeze. Tiffiny voted NO on HJR 25, again silencing us by taking away our vote.
*Increased tobacco tax – $2 per pack and 65% increase on cigars. These tax revenue will be given to Oregon Health Authority and Tribal Health Authority. On OHA’s website it claims, “The cost of health care in Oregon has grown and is projected to grow faster than both the state economy and Oregonians’ wages.” Ever heard of a budget and sticking to it? What will they tax next, butter and soda pop?
*Illegals having the right to a drivers license-
Enough said! Except that this bill also prohibits any ODOT employee, Police Officer, or contractor from saying these people got their drivers license without a social security number and they can use a 13 yr old expired state ID card as identification in getting their license.
*Tiffiny voted NO on HB 3400 which would allow students to deduct loan interest on their tax returns. She sure wants our money, this stinks of desperation!
Tiffiny needs to go! Her agenda is aligned with Portland’s rather than those she represents. During one of her town hall meetings she sidestepped direct questions from her constituents stating instead her beliefs, interests and agenda. She not only does not represent the working men and women of her district, she undermines them!
*Note- 2017-2018 were record years of tax revenue paid by the Oregon tax payers. They still want more, $BILLION$ more and it won’t stop there!

No, it'd be equal to 0.14%. Oregonians emit carbon at twice the global average, and have already emitted a lot to-date.

The solution to climate change requires everyone doing their fair share. All will suffer the consequences, including Oregonians. Otherwise warming will only continue, as will the cost.

"A lot" equals about 65 MTCO2/year. It is absurd to assume that is "A lot". "A lot" is China who contributes approximately 10,000 MTCO2 every year.

The point should not be lost that Tiffany Mitchell does not represent what is best for Oregon. She represents what's best for Portland and makes decisions based on how those politicians and special interest lobbyists tell her to vote.
