Letter: Women’s Club thanks supporters of Manzanita Tour of Homes

The Women’s Club 24th annual Tour of Homes was another successful fundraiser, “exceeding expectations of participants attending and homes on view,” Phyllis Scott, event organizer, said.
The Women’s Club thanks the private homeowners, Scott Dauphinais, Thomas Aschenbrener and Richard Neuman, Ellen Marshall, steve and Susan Auer, Becky and Mike DeCesaro, and Alex and Linda Cruz for their hospitality in opening their homes.
New this year on the tour was the “community house” – Pine Grove Community House on Laneda Avenue. This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has been at the center of community activity for more than 80 years. Participants of the tour were invited to visit the Nehalem Valley Historical Society downstairs before heading out throughout the Manzanita area to visit five unique homes.
The Women’s Club thanks the many women members and supporters, who acted as hosts at the homes, moved and set up equipment, handled publicity and gave donations to this fundraising effort.
Deep appreciation is extended to the following local community businesses for their continued support of the Women’s Club’s efforts to raise funds for their scholarship fund and those organizations who help women and children in need in the community:
Bread and Ocean, Pine Grove Community House – building use, Cloud & Leaf Bookstore, The Roost, Dixie’s Vino, Salt and Paper – printing, Dillon Communication – brochure, San Dune Pub, Finnesterre, Scovel’s Service Center & Towing LLC, Four Paws on the Beach, Sunset & Ocean Edge Vacation Rentals, Howell’s Floor Covering – location, Syzygy, Law Manzanita – Sarah Smyth McIntosh, T-Spot, Manzanita Grocery & Deli, Toylandia & Manzanita Sweets, Manzanita Lumber Company, Walt Covert – Real Estate Broker, North Coast Watchman Services
With an 86 year history, the women’s club members of the North Tillamook County Women’s Association continues the tradition of involving civic-minded women in their community. Their current fundraising efforts made possible their goal of “Women supporting women to make lives, families, and communities stronger.” This focus for making a difference has resulted in the Women’s Club’s support of several organizations and to provide a scholarship for a young woman from Neahkahnie High School.
