Above-normal risk of wildfires on both the Oregon and Washington Coasts prompts the 2020 Senior Class Graduates of Neah- Kah-Nie High School to urge caution with fires and fireworks. This 2020 Senior class will be selling fireworks as a fundraiser for their SAFE Party at the end of their Senior year. This is an alcohol and drug free party that all Seniors and many parents attend.
The fireworks booth is set up in the parking lot of the Manzanita Grocery and Deli on Laneda Avenue in downtown Manzanita. The booth sells fireworks legal in the State of Oregon along with many non-firework items. Hats, float decorations, rubber ducks, and flags are just a few of the items available.
Nathan Lee, a Senior this coming year at Neah-Kah-Nie H.S. says “We want people to enjoy their time in our community and to be extra careful this year with fires and fireworks. Have a bucket of water to put your fireworks in as they are not always all the way out when finished. Please pick up the area you are using when finished with fireworks. Do not use fireworks in or near beach grass, heavy tree needles, or other heavy brush growth in yards or neighborhoods. Protecting your animals is important. Young children should be at least 10’ away from the fireworks area and parents should always be supervising.”
Fireworks legal in Oregon are generally fountains and do not go off the ground. A large variety of fireworks, in all price ranges can be found at the booth.
