The alleged victim of an assault in the Seaside area has passed away. According to a statement from the City of Seaside, an autopsy will be performed in the coming days to help determine what happened to 49-year-old Travis Todd of Forest Grove.
The statement from the City said the ongoing investigation suggested there is no threat to others, but detectives would still like to talk to anyone that spent time with Todd the evening of March 29 or during the early morning hours of March 30.
At around 3:18 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, Seaside Dispatch received a call regarding an alleged assault near the intersection of Avenue K and South Columbia Street in Seaside.
When police arrived on scene they discovered Todd with serious assault injuries, according to a statement from the City of Seaside. Todd was taken to a local hospital and later to a Portland-area hospital in serious condition, according to the City’s statement.
Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen Todd sometime after 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29. Investigators believe he may have been drinking, possibly in local bars, and appears to have been on the Seaside beach and near the Promenade sometime before the alleged assault occurred. Todd had reportedly checked into a downtown oceanfront hotel earlier that day.
