Several cars slid off roads due to icy conditions on Monday morning, according to a statement from Tillamook County Emergency Management. Crashes have also been reported by Oregon Department of Transportation.
Emergency Management said in the statement that local law enforcement had reported numerous icy spots on Highways 6 and 101, Sandlake Road, and others with extremely slick and icy roads.
Emergency Management urged the use of “extreme caution” while driving until the temperature warms up. Overnight moisture combined with the morning frost has created black ice in some areas. Leave plenty of space between vehicles and travel slowly.
Nestucca Valley School District was on a two-delay because of the icy conditions.
