Amid all the counting and recounting of votes across the nation, I would just like to take the opportunity to congratulate our County Clerk Tassi O’Neil and her wonderful crew on another job well done. I came down on election night and observed the process. It was orderly, efficient and accurate.
The work of the election begins before the actual ballot boxes are picked the first Tuesday in November and it continues on for several days after as military, absentee, and snail mail ballots show up. In a really close election it is possible for the outcome to change after Election Day.
Oregon’s official results won’t be in until Nov. 26.
We have a meticulously stored paper trail if there is ever a doubt. Thanks to the efforts of our County Clerk and her volunteer board and her staff, we can have complete confidence in our election process.
