Rockaway Beach resident Patrick Dennis has been appointed to the Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehalem Bay board of directors and serves in the Mass Care and Sheltering division.
After graduating from Emory University, Dennis joined a fulfillment startup company in Dallas, until he realized his passion was not in the corporate world.
So he signed up with the Peace Corps and worked for two years on a variety of projects in Cameroon, West Africa.
Finding the right opportunity after the Peace Corps brought Dennis to the Oregon Coast where he now works as Finance Manager for the North County Recreation District in Nehalem. He also serves as a mentor in the ASPIRE program at Neah-Kah-Nie High School, and is member of the Economic Development Council of Tillamook County budget committee.
Dennis said he joined the EVCNB because he “admires the dedication and selflessness” of the organization, and believes the work it does is “invaluable to the local community.”
He added, “I hope to bring a fresh perspective to the board and look forward to trying to get the local youth excited about emergency preparedness.”
