Neah-Ka-Nie athletes got a chance to show off their new track Thursday and several of them made a sure they left a big impression before the district championships later this month.
Neah-Kah-Nie won the first event on the new track, the girls 4×100 meter relay, only to have a timer problem force the race to be run a second time about five minutes later.
The relay redux ended a little differently with the Lady Pirates finishing a step behind Columbia Christian’s quartet.
Tristan Bennett won both the discus and the shot put, while freshman Dinah Schultz did a distance double, winning both the 1,5000 meters and the 3,000 meter races.
Nestucca’s Joe Wilkinson picked up wins in the 1,500 meters and the pole vault.
