NCRD gets tribal grant

The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund awarded $1,500 to NCRD on Nov. 4. The grant supports the 2018 “Forest to Sea” camps directed by Peter Walczak. Each camp is for 25 students from second to fifth grade and provides an interactive learning experience with the natural world. This includes field trips to the ocean, forests, estuary, dunes, and rivers. Mr. Walczak is was a former instructor of biology, watershed, and oceanography for the Neah-Kah-Nie School District. This included being a coach for the National Ocean Science Bowl team which won regional competitions and won fourth place nationally.

NCRD is proud to sponsor these important camps and is very appreciative of the support from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund.
