Lady Pirates grab ninth at state meet


Neah-Kah-Nie had two runners come in among the top 25 to guide the Pirates to a ninth-place finish in the 3A/2A/1A girls cross country championships at Lane Community College near Eugene Saturday.

Enterprise led a Wapiti League one-two punch by winning the team title with 63 points, while Union finished second with 88 points, edging Oregon Episcopal by just two points.
The Pirates had 220 points, with Karissa Hadermann placing 18th (22nd overall) with a time of 21:07. Freshman Dinah Schultz came across the line with a time of 21:36, placing 31st overall and 25th in the team scoring.
Lacoya Reny-Hamer was the third Pirate to finish, with a time of 24:24 (64th/55th), while Rheanne Bryant was timed in 24:35 for the 5K course.
Iris Siegel (72nd/63rd) was timed in 24:46, while Nula Reid followed (76th/67th) in 25:06.
Catlin Gabel’s Maya Rayle won the individual title, completing the 5K course around the college in 18:33, the the top three finishers all being seniors. Sailor Hutton of Bandon was second, followed by Kennedy’s Kaylin Cantu.
Enterprise freshman Kyla Hook led her team to victory by placing seventh overall and bringing her sophomore teammate Ellyse Tingelstad in tenth overall.
