A winter storm system will impact northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington starting later in the day Wednesday and continuing through Thursday.
There is still a lot of uncertainty about precipitation type and amounts. At this time, the most likely solution is for a brief period of snow before changing over to rain for the southern half of the Willamette Valley. In the northern half of the valley and Portland/Vancouver metro area, precipitation should remain mostly snow with a brief period of sleet/freezing rain possible Thursday morning.
While this is the most likely solution, there is a lot of model uncertainty, therefore a lot can change between now and then. Stay tuned to weather.gov/portland for the latest forecast information.
