…HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR THE NORTH OREGON AND SOUTH WASHINGTON COAST… THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A HIGH SURF ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING.

* SEAS…22 TO 25 FT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON…WITH A DOMINANT WESTERLY SWELL WITH A PERIOD OF 14 TO 15 SECONDS.

* SURF…LARGE BREAKING WAVES WILL HAVE A TENDENCY TO OCCUR FARTHER FROM SHORE AND IN AREAS WHERE THEY ARE NOT TYPICALLY OBSERVED.

* IMPACTS…SNEAKER WAVES ARE POSSIBLE AND HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO RUN CONSIDERABLY FARTHER UP THE BEACH THAN AVERAGE WAVES WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING…KNOCKING PEOPLE OFF THEIR FEET AND PULLING THEM OUT TO SEA. IN ADDITION…BEACH EROSION WILL BE POSSIBLE.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTH OREGON COAST
