Lady Pirates tie for ninth; boys take 17th

Neah-Kah-Nie fielded a team Saturday and it paid off in Seaside’s Three Course Challenge with a ninth place tie in team scoring in the moderate 5-Kilometer race.

The Lady Pirates scored 221 to tie with much-larger Grant. Camas won the team title with 41 points, followed by St. Marys Academy (96) and Mountain View (155).

Freshmen Aspen Becker and Karissa Haderman finished together, taking 37th and 38th to lead the Lady Pirates. The tandem finished one second apart with Becker being clocked at 25:01 minutes.

Lacoya Remy-Hamer (122nd, 27:56), Roan Childress (141st, 28:21) and Iris Siegel (154th, 28:57) rounded out the team’s scoring and beat several larger schools like Seaside, Sisters and Rainier.

Mitchell leads boys

In the boys race on the moderate course, Neah-Kah-Nie finished 17th in the team race with a total of 423 points.

Dylan Mitchell was the first Pirate to finish, placing 66 th in 21:48 minutes. Brady Haylett was next, placing 125th in 23:02, while Tyler Ernst (203rd, 24:42), Willie Davidson (208th, 24:44) and Wade Becker (216th, 24:52) finished the scoring.
