July 4 weekend events

There’s lots to do in Tillamook County this Fourth of July weekend!

• Clover’s Day Festival –July 2, 7a.m. This parade is led by a cow, so come and celebrate while listening to live music and eating pancakes for breakfast during this lively event.

• Freedom Festival at the Blue Heron French Cheese Co. –July 2-3, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Enjoy a variety of arts, crafts, food, beer garden and live entertainment. This is a fundraiser benefiting the Tillamook Animal Shelter. Best Dressed Patriotic Pet Contest. For more info please call 541-420-0279.

• Fireworks Display – July 2, Bob Straub State Park. Fireworks beginning at dusk.

• Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks – July 4, 11 a.m. at Rockaway Beach. Family fun events will begin at 1 p.m. Fireworks will start at dusk

• Firecracker Weiner Nationals Dog Races – July 4, 1 p.m. at City Park in Rockaway Beach. Wiener dog races, vendor booths and a hot dog barbecue! After the parade in Rockaway. Proceeds go to support the Tillamook County Animal Shelter.

• Independence Day Celebration and BBQ- July 4, Nehalem Bay Winery. Free event, food and music availble for purchase. Featuring “Seymour.”

• Manzanita July 4th Parade and Fireworks– July 4, 1 p.m. from Division and Laneda. The fireworks will begin July 4 at 10 p.m. on Manzanita Beach.

• Cape Meares Parade and Picnic– July 4, Parade 11 a.m. Potluck/picnic, 1 p.m.

• Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad Fireworks Excursion – Ride the train to Rockaway Beach to watch the memorable fireworks display. Leaves from Garibaldi depot (in Lumberman’s Park) at 8:30 p.m. Call 503-842-7972 for more information and to purchase tickets.

• “World’s Shortest unsanctioned 4th of July parade” – Parade starts at 10 a.m. sharp in Oceanside. Line up on Sunset, going on to Cape Meares Loop Road, down Pacific Avenue, continuing around Rosenburg Loop to the Wayside. Decorated wagons, tricycles, bicycles, strollers, roller skates, skate boarders, babies, kids, dogs, walkers, dancers, floats, boats and cars.

• 4th of July in Neskowin – The 4th of July celebration in Neskowin will include a 5k Fun Run at 7 a.m. Register online: A Nesko Book and Bake Sale will take place from 8 a.m.-noon. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a patriotic celebration at 11 a.m. (Proposal Rock Inn parking lot). There will also be sand castle building and kite flying on the beach from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and fireworks on the beach begin around dusk.
