Tillamook County Commissioner Mark Labhart was recognized with the Outstanding Community Leader Award at the 2016 Annual Mtg. of the Red Cross Cascades Region meeting in Portland on June 16. He was presented the award by Red Cross CEO Amy Shlossman.
“I was quite surprised and honored to be recognized,” said Labhart. “The ones who should receive the recognition are all the Red Cross volunteers who show up in our County every time we have an emergency from a house fire to a major flood event.”
Tillamook County has had 18 federally declared disasters since 1996 and the Cascades Chapter of the Red Cross has been at almost every one of those events providing valuable services at no costs to the folks they serve.
The Cascades Region of the Red Cross covers Oregon and SW Washington. The award was presented to Commissioner Labhart at their annual meeting which was held at the Oregon Historical Society Headquarters in Portland.
