Most of the athletes making the trip to the state meet will be returning next spring, according to track coach Chelsea Yarnell. The team will only lose senior Annie Romig to graduation from the group.
“Everybody that went to state all had improvements,” she said. “We had improvements in almost every event we went to and we placed better than we were ranked in each event.
“That is really hard to do. The biggest surprise was the girls 4×100 meter relay. We were ranked ninth going in and we finished seventh.
“We were in the slow heat. That means that we beat out two other teams in the fast heat That was really big for us,” the coach added.
“All the girls who went to state worked hard all season.”
