The Bobcats swept into Rockaway Beach Tuesday and raided the Pirates for an easy 66-12 wrestling victory over rival Neah-Kah-Nie in the NKN duals competition.
Willard Neary (113), Gabe Garcia (120) and Jordan Whittles (126) started the match with forfeit wins, giving the Bobcats a 18-0 jump start in scoring.
Nestucca didn’t stop there, sweeping four of the next eight by forfeit and getting wins by fall in the other four.
Ahead 66-0 with two weights remaining, Neah- Kah-Nie’s Tristan Bennett (220) and Anthony Ramirez (285) both picked up wins by forfeit to score all of the Pirates 12 points.
Pirates bury Tigers
Neither Taft nor Neah-Kah- Nie fielded a wrestler in six weight classes, but that didn’t prevent the Pirates from rolling up a 30-3 victory over Taft.
The visiting Tigers got just one win in the remaining seven matches – Christian Stockton’s 5-2 decision over Dylan Dunlap of Neah-Kah- Nie in the 182-pound match.
The rest of the competition with Taft was a sweep.
Cody Henry picked up a 12-6 decision over David Jin of Taft in the 126-pound match to start the scoring. Omar Arenas followed with an 8-4 decision over Taft’s Cody Knott before Jacob Griffith picked up the first fall of the match, defeating Jonathon Wright of Taft at 138 pounds.
That gave the Pirates a 12-0 lead.
It would jump to 18-0 with Greg Ellison’s win by fall over Josh Salsbury.
