For 80 area children, this Christmas will be a little bit brighter due to the efforts of local law enforcement agencies.
Last Saturday 80 children and about 35 local cops went  shopping for Christmas gifts at the local Fred Meyer store.
Each child was given breakfast, a tee-shirt, $100 in shopping money to purchase toys or clothes and a voucher to pick up an entire Christmas meal. And all gifts were wrapped so the children would have something extra to open Christmas morning.
According to Tillamook Chief of Police Terry Wright, the Tillamook Police Department was joined by the Oregon State Police, the Tillamook County Sheriff deputies, the U.S. Forest Service officers, and the Rockaway Beach and Manzanita police officers to handle the large amount of children and help them shop.
“This is a great program and I’m happy to participate,” said Officer Sims. “It’s great we are able to help out this time of year.”
