The Women’s Club  of Manzanita  will kick off it’s first monthly meeting of the 2015-2016 year on October 6th at the Pine Grove Community Center.  The Community Center is located at 225 Laneda Ave., Manzanita.  The meeting will begin with a social time from noon to 12:30 when lunch will be provided featuring Harvest Soups with bread and desert.  The Program will be “Making Connections”.  This program will be presented by Kimberly Allen and Stacy Nuttal. The program will include some fun participatory team games that will not require you to be physical.
The Club meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month, October through May beginning at the same time (noon) each month. Anyone interested in joining our Club may join us as our lunchen guest at any of the meetings including our first on October 6th.
Women’s Club of Manzanita started in the 1920’s by a small number of women living in Manzanita when life was much more isolated and traveling in the mud and rain much more difficult.  They focused on the social aspects of coming together and eventually , as women often do, helping others in the community.  Although, very surprising the Club still exists today and actually the Club’s mission and purpose appears to be quite similiar.  The Club provides an opportunity for members to meet and become better acquianted with each other and others in the Community.  We demonstrate an atmosphere of friendliness, good will, and provide helpful information. We also work together on fund raising events to promote and contribute to charitable and civic causes including scholarships and leadership training for young women at Neahkahnie High School.  Currently our membership consists of a wide variety of women with different ages, personal and professional backgrounds and many different talents and interests.
