Ales and Ideas Presents “No Bar Too Rough, Too Tough, Too Far”

Clatsop Community College and the Fort George Brewery are pleased to announce the April event Ales & Ideas community lectures. On Thursday, April 6th, CCC invites you to join CDR Kristen Serumgard of the US Coast Guard as she presents “No Bar Too Rough, Too Tough, Too Far”, a presentation full of tales and photos from her adventures tending the buoys of the Columbia River and Pac NW Coast, as well as, the Coast Guard’s commitment to education.

CDR Kristen Serumgard is the sixth Commanding Officer of USCGC FIR (WLB 213), a 225’ seagoing buoy tender homeported in Astoria, Oregon. The crew of 7 officers and 41 enlisted service 115 Aids to Navigation along the coasts of Oregon and Washington in the treacherous waters of the Pacific Northwest. A true multi-mission cutter, FIR also conducts Fisheries Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, and is outfitted with a Spilled Oil Recovery System to respond in the event of an oil spill.

Clatsop Community College is pleased to honor the longstanding mutual commitment to lifelong education and safe maritime workplaces here in the Columbia Pacific by welcoming the inspiring and informative Kristen to the stage.

Doors open with food and beverage service at 6pm. Seasonal beers on tap, food and other beverages are available for purchase, but no purchase is required. Minors are welcome. The Fort George Lovell Showroom is located at 14th and Duane St. in Astoria.
