Would you prefer your Oregon Coast Thanksgiving to mean a yummy meal cooked and served at one of the many terrific restaurants that dot the coastline? So you can relax and enjoy the day and really have time to give thanks.

Or does the idea of Thanksgiving bring images of turkey roasting in the oven? Salads and pies at the ready for the big meal? Hours in the kitchen perfecting pies?

Or maybe not …

Are you ready to make your reservation for your Oregon coast Thanksgiving? But which restaurants around Manzanita and the north Oregon Coast are open for your Thanksgiving lunch or dinner?

Follow along, because we have the insider’s scoop! We’ll start in the Manzanita area, including Nehalem, Wheeler and Mohler.

Most restaurants in the Manzanita community are closed for the holiday. One alternative is ordering a take-out Thanksgiving Dinner.

For a traditional dinner, try Manzanita Grocery & Deli, The Little Apple, open 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. For $169, your take out dinner will include a 12 – 14 pound roasted turkey with dressing, 1.5 quart mashed potatoes, 1.5 quart turkey gravy, 1.5

pint cranberry sauce and 1 pint vegetables. Call 503-368-5362 to reserve your dinner.

Also available are extras for purchase, by the pint or quart, including mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, dinner rolls, turkey dressing, fresh cranberry sauce, chutney and corn.

You’ll also find delicious apple, pumpkin and marionberry pies.

Take out dinner is a good option for those that don’t want to cook on Thanksgiving. One benefit of ordering a Thanksgiving dinner at Manzanita Grocery & Deli is supporting a very important business in the community.

Did you hear about the helping hand Manzanita Grocery & Deli offered to those affected by the recent Manzanita Tornado? They were at the forefront of care and giving in the community with free hot meals and beverages for Tillamook People’s Utility District workers and customers who lost power.

Sisters & Pete’s Coffee and Treats is taking pie pre-orders (have you tried their pies – delish!) for two sizes of pies: $19 for a pie that serves six to eight people, or $6 for individual pies. All their regular pies will be available, and they’ll also take special requests. Call 503-368-7437.

As mentioned, Manzanita is part of the very charming three-village area of Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler. Bisecting our area is the picturesque Nehalem River. And perched over the river in the tiny hamlet of Mohler is Kendra’s River Inn Food & Lodging.

Formerly the Nehalem River Inn, Kendra’s River Inn Food & Lodging is the new home of Kendra Hall, formerly of the well-known Tillamook restaurant Kendra’s Kitchen.

Kendra took over the Nehalem River Inn in early 2016, and is joined by daughter Galena and son Ben, a recent graduate of the Oregon Culinary Institute.

For your Thanksgiving dinner, what could be better than dinner in a serene, scenic setting such as Kendra’s River Inn? A Thanksgiving buffet presented by the duo Kendra Hall and her team and LaNicia Williams of Coastal Soul, a three-village favorite!

Their Thanksgiving buffet includes turkey, roast beef, dressing, candied yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, three salads, green bean casserole, black eye peas and rice, collard greens, cornbread, rolls, pumpkin pie and peach cobbler.

As a special treat, LaNicia’s mother Gwen Phillips will be providing entertainment, including songs from her CD, It’s Christmas, Rejoice!

Yummy home-style cooking with a twist of some soul. Makes a plain old Thanksgiving spread sound a bit boring. This special seating runs $34.95, and is by reservation only. Call 503-368-7488.

Another yummy option is local favorite Buttercup. Do you remember owner Julie Barker, former owner of Blue Sky Cafe and Bread and Ocean, both Manzanita favorites?

Julie now has a thriving fresh chowder (yep, made to order) and frozen desert take-out spot in Nehalem.

Lucky for us, Julie is taking orders for either the entire Thanksgiving dinner, or just the sides. Check out her menu on her website. You can order in person, by phone 503-368-2469, email, or online.

Between Manzanita and Nehalem, you’ll find the Bunkhouse. They’re open for breakfast on Nov. 24, then closed from 2 – 3 p.m. to prepare for their special Thanksgiving meal, served from 3 – 8 p.m., including scrumptious prime rib. Call 503-368-5424.

In downtown Nehalem, the Pizza Garden is open for a special dinner. They are offering two seatings: 2 – 4 p.m. Reservations required.  Call 503-368-7675.
