NWSDS mortgage burning (video)

Built, bought and burned! NorthWest Senior and Disability Services (NWSDS) staff and community leaders lit it up this week.

NWSDS Community Program Supervisor Stacie Zuercher and County Commissioner Bill Baertlein had fun torching the agency’s mortgage at burning ceremony in Tillamook, Sept. 21.

Officials said strategic financial planning, service expansion and wise investments enabled the nonprofit to pay off the 15-year, lease-purchase option in about eight years. That translates to a savings of more than $12,700 monthly, or about $152,000 annually, for the Tillamook building.

The nonprofit serves thousands of county residents monthly with much-needed health care services, medical expenses and food assistance.
