Manzanita to host first music festival


MANZANITA, Ore. – Celebrating the healing power of music, The 1st Annual Manzanita Music Festival will be in full force, Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, in beautiful downtown Manzanita. The free festival is pleased to present some of the finest talent on 2 stages that the region has to offer; Jazz, Americana, Reggae, Punk Country, Bluegrass, Folk and pop. It kicks off on Saturday from 1-9pm, after the 26th Annual Manzanita Walk and Run, and 1-5pm on Sunday.
Musical artists set to perform include Kate and the Crocodiles, The Junebugs, Sol Seed, Kelsey Mousley, Blue Jug, Shamless, Woodknot, Jenny Don’t and the Spurs, Terry Robb, Julie Amici, The Sextones, Mystery Ride, Jaime Leopold and the Short Stories and Maggie and the Kats.

In addition, North Country Recreation District (NCRD) is putting together an exciting schedule of activities for children thru-out the weekend, in the Kids Zone, located on Laneda, where the Farmers Market takes place. Activities include; Drum Circle with The Tsunami Drummers, acoustic performances by “Better Halves” and others, Kids Dance Party, Kids Yoga and Sing Alongs. Rinhart Clinic in Nehalem will staff a 1st aid booth, as well. Craft beer, wine and food will also be available for purchase at the festival.

Donations will be gratefully accepted to cover the cost of putting on the festival AND proceeds will benefit organizations that make music education accessible to children in our schools. “Music shelters, heals and is an essential component to wellness” is an important part of Manzanita Music Festival Mission Statement. The group plans to incorporate as a 501C3 after the festival. Donations of canned foods for the North Country Food Bank will also be accepted at the gate.

Festival organizers ask that no alcohol, coolers, chairs or dogs be allowed at the two festival staging areas, but leashed dogs are allowed in the farmers market location.
