Funtastic summer day camps for kids

Come join the summer fun – the OSU Extension Service offers day camps throughout the summer that are open to all youth. Day camps are offered on a variety of topics. Each day camp is from 3-5 days long and costs $45; plus an annual 4-H enrollment fee for anyone not already enrolled in 4-H ($25 for 4th-12th grade; or $2 for K-3rd grade).

The Cloverbud Jungle Adventure Day Camp, June 27-30, 9 a.m. – noon, is for kids that have completed K-2nd grade. The day camp includes crafts, activities, snacks and stories all about the jungle and will be at the OSU Extension Service office, 2204 Fourth Street, Tillamook

 

The Dishin’ Up the Dirt – Gardening Day Camp, which is for kids that have completed 2nd grade and above will be held July 5-8, from 1 – 5 p.m., at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. Participants will plant a veggie container, make a miniature garden, do garden crafts, cook foods from the garden, and have fun!

 

The Photography Basics Day Camp, July 11-15, 9 a.m. – noon, at the OSU Extension Service office, is for kids that have completed 3rd grade or higher. They will learn about: operating film & digital cameras; storing digital files; printing techniques; and composing images. There will be hands-on activities in the classroom and outside. Participants must provide a digital camera.

 

There are additional day camps that are offered throughout the summer for youth who have completed 4th grade or above. These include: Sew Much Fun – Beginning Sewing; Becoming a Food Hero – Cooking & Nutrition; Totem Art – clay sculpting; Air Rifle Safety and Handling; and Art Around the World.

All OSU Extension Service sponsored day camp fees include equipment, supplies and activities. Participants in many of the day camps will complete at least one project that can be exhibited in 4-H at the Tillamook County Fair.

Pre-registration is encouraged one week prior to the day camp as each day camp has limited enrollment and camps with low enrollment one week prior to the starting date may be canceled. Financial need scholarships are available.
