Tillamook County Fair announces entertainment line-up

The 2016 Tillamook County Fair is just around the corner and the Fair Board and staff are excited that we were able to schedule some amazing performers for this year’s fair. We are happy to have the up and coming country band A Thousand Horses along with American pop and country music duo The Bellamy Brothers and the soft rock group, Little River Band to complete our fair line-up.

A Thousand Horses

The fair will begin Wednesday, August 10th with American country music band A Thousand Horses on stage that evening. Sponsored by TLC A Division of Fibre Federal Credit Union and Les Schwab Tires of Tillamook. A Thousand Horses is blending low-country blues, old school soul, rock and high gospel harmony to make a special and distinct sound with hits like “Smoke” and “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial”. All of their songs on the band’s 13 track debut album Southernality are filled with lyrics that really relate to everyone because the songs were written by members, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends. A Thousand Horses are able to bring out their own experiences through music.

The Bellamy Brothers

Sheldon Oil Company and The Tillamook County Creamery Association are sponsoring the American pop and country music duo, The Bellamy Brothers, Thursday night August 11th. The Bellamy Brothers have been captivating the world for over 30 years with numerous No. 1 hits on both Country and Pop charts. Howard and David Bellamy have been able to stay connected with their millions of listeners over the years even though the music industry has been becoming more about the style over substance. They have been bringing us honest, heartfelt songs like “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me),” “Do You Love As Good As You Look,” “When I’m Away From You,” and “Redneck Girl.”   The Brothers’ hit song from the ‘70s “Let Your Love Flow” is still very popular in today’s music.

Little River Band

The Friday night, August 12th concert is sponsored by the Tillamook County Merchant’s Day Businesses and will be the soft rock group, Little River Band. Within eight months of becoming a band, Little River Band had already scored two top Ten albums and three Australian Top 20 singles. Their self-titled debut album was released in the USA in 1976, which started their 13 US tours in eight months. LRB is on their 40th Anniversary Tour bringing us a mix of new songs as well as classics such as “Reminiscing,” “Cool Change” and “Lady.”

The fair entertainment will wrap up Saturday night, August 13th with the traditional and very popular Demolition Derby sponsored by Carson Oil Company, The Headlight Herald and Clatsop Distributing Company.

The fair is also looking forward to 4 days of Pig-N-Ford racing with the World Championships Saturday evening and Horse Racing everyday starting at 1:00 pm. Returning for their 37th year the innovative and longstanding Huckleberry Health Fair will be held in the skating rink on Wednesday and Thursday. Sponsored by Tillamook Regional Medical Center. The Dairy Done Right Lounge sponsored by The Tillamook County Creamery Association will be in the skating rink on Friday and Saturday. This will be the lounge’s second year so be sure to check it out between Noon to 4:00 pm. Fair Acres will be ready to greet the younger fair goers with educational exhibits and hands on experiences as well as entertainment throughout the day. Sponsored by Werner Gourmet Meats.

On the courtyard stage we have brought back the ever popular Brad’s World Reptiles and the mesmerizing hypnotist show with Tammy Barton. We have a few new entertainers this year, Godfrey the Magician who will roam around as well as perform stage shows and “Tangled Threads”, a two person strolling marionette show sure to captivate your attention. To round off new experiences, we have invited the local Wave Steppers to showcase their talents and Year of Wellness (YOW) organizers will entice fair goers to a Hula Hoop challenge. Musical Entertainment doesn’t just happen on the main stage, included this year in the courtyard performances is Cascade Rye, an Austin Texas based American Roots rock duo and the Beth Willis Band duo who is an high energy acoustic act that plays a wide variety of music.

All of the entertainment at the 2016 Tillamook County Fair would not be possible without all of the businesses that sponsor these events. The fair would like to ask that local residents support the fair sponsors and take note throughout this year’s premium book (distributed in early June) and during the fair of those businesses that make the fair happen. We absolutely cannot have a blue ribbon fair without our sponsors and participants. The fair board is happy to celebrate The “Century of Silver, Celebrating 125 Years” Fair with all of you.
