Neah-Kah-Nie was bounced from its own tournament Saturday when the Lady Pirates dropped a 25-19, 25-19 decision to Santiam in the quarterfinals.
The Lady Wolverines entered the tournament with a 0-3 non-league record and losses to Scio, Waldport and Jefferson.
In the tournament Saturday, the Wolverines turned the tables on the fourth-ranked Irish from Waldport.In Waldport, it was the Irish taking a 25-16, 26-24, 28-26 sweep.
At the Neah-Kah-Nie tournament, Santiam made it through pool play to the championship round where the Wolverines beat the Pirates, then beat Jefferson in the semifinals. Santiam started off strong with a 25-19 win in the first set, but then the Lady Lions won the second game by a 25-15 score. It was the Wolverines who pulled out the third-set win (15-10).
Santiam had lost a 3-1 contest to Jefferson Sept. 3, before turning it around in the tournament.
Waldport didn’t make it through pool play, playing in the consolation bracket.
Knappa knocked off Warrenton to earn a spot in the semifinals against Delphian, but the Dragons dropped the Loggers by a 2-1 margin (25-18, 12-25, 15-7).
Third-ranked Pilot Rock dropped into the consolation bracket Saturday, only to take a 2-1 win over fourth-ranked Waldport in the semifinal. The Rockets dropped the first game to Waldport (25-20), then won the next two by a 25-13 and 15-6 margin to move into the consolation finals.
In the consolation finals, the Lady Rockets took the title with a 25-13, 25-21 win over 3A Clatskanie.
