Craig Thomas (Tom) Potts, 68, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. He was born on November 29, 1946 in Iowa City, IA to Ray and Eva Potts.
Tom grew up in Humbolt and Ames, IA. He graduated from Ames High School in Ames Iowa in 1965. After high school he attended Iowa State University where he received a bachelors degree, and began work on a masters degree. He moved to Chicago where he worked as a photojournalist, photo editor, and public relations manager. He and his family moved to Portland Oregon where he worked at Intel in media relations.
Tom was married to Jeanine Coupe Ryding, and later to Marlene Bauer.
Tom was an avid photographer, and enjoyed cars, travel, running, diving, hiking and biking. He loved animals and volunteered for several years at the Audubon Society of Portland in the Wildlife Care Center, rehabilitating injured wild animals.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother Eva. He is survived by his daughter Zoe Potts, his brother Tim, his father Ray, and his nieces and nephews.
The family requests that any donations be made in Tom’s name to the Audubon Society of Portland.
